Possible attempted burglary. On Wednesday February 27th at approximately 3:34 Pm a resident of Marine Street notified police that while he was sitting in the living room of his home, he heard noise of the rear slider screen opening. As he approached the slider door he noted a male in a bright blue jacket. As the home owner approached the slider door the subject turned and fled the area. A check of the area by police yielded negative results. No further description was obtained. The home owners view was obscured by curtains. Residents are encouraged to be alert. There has been an increase of burglaries in the county and surrounding areas. Senoir communities, even gated communities through out the county have been targeted. Even though Tuckerton has not had a sucessful burglary it is important to be alert. Surrounding communities have had incidents and no community is above being victimized. You can help. What to do. INSPECTION STICKER THEFTS The Tuckerton Police Department is asking all residents to make sure to lock their vehicles when left unattended. During the past several days, inspection stickers have been taken from vehicles that are left unlocked. The perpetrators are entering the vehicles and with expert precision removing the inspection stickers from the windshield of the vehicles. Residents are urged to contact police and report any suspicious activity. ICE - In Case of Emergency The Police Department is asking residents to use their cell phones as a way of supplying emergency responders with information that could be lifesaving. Program and store the person you would like to be contacted in an emergency situation in your cell phone with the word ICE. The word ICE can be with a name or alone. You may store more than one number. Simply denote them as ICE 1, ICE 2, etc. It is also recommended that you make index cards with important information (ICE numbers, medical conditions, medications, physicians name, and allergies). Place the cards near your home phones and keep one in your wallet. When emergency personnel respond to a medical emergency, it is imperative that they have this information. |
